Jordan's King Abdullah II, one of Israel's few remaining close allies in the Muslim world, said in remarks obtained Monday that the uprisings sweeping Arab nations have put the Jewish state in a difficult position. He also hotly rejected the notion that his country should take in Palestinians as a substitute for the creation of a state for them.

The Stock Market Casino Can't  Settle Down

The stock market just can’t seem to make up its mind.

Day after day, stocks swing sharply by hundreds of points. Last week they tumbled 3 percent in the first 90 minutes of trading on Tuesday morning, then on Wednesday closed nearly 3 percent higher and dropped almost 3 percent on Friday. All of this on the heels of unusual back-to-back 4 percent leaps and dives in one week in August.

The Los Angeles Sheriffs department displays the recovered $250,000 quill pen Rembrandt drawing known as "The Judgment" at a news conference, Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, in Marina Del Rey, Calif. Authorities said early Tuesday they had recovered the Dutch master's 17th century sketch at a San Fernando Valley church, about 20 miles from the luxury hotel lobby where it was stolen over the weekend from a private art display while a curator was momentarily distracted by someone who seemed interested in buying another piece.  Photo/Gus Ruelas
