Thanks for the memories Ron Reagan

  • Claimed to have helped liberate a concentration camp during WW II, proving his
inability to distinguish his REEL life from REAL life. TCall2004@comcast.net

  • The largest single tax increase on the middle class in the history of the United
States. The tax reform act of 1986

  • When my husband died, my 3 young children received Social Security. It would
continue payments as long as they were in school until they reached 22. We
depended on it for their college years. Then 12 years after their father's
death when they were in 9th, 10th and 12th grade, Reagan "fixed" the system - no grandfathering-no nothing. Benefits ended at age 18.

  • Reagan was once asked what he thought of claims that the holocaust never
happened. Reagan replied that he knew the holocaust happened because he had
seen movies of it. Perhaps that explains why he claimed to have no knowledge of
the shadow government formed under his administration to contravene U.S. law
during the Iran-Contra scandal. He didn't see it in any movies. Eric M

  • Non-support of civil rights. Attacked the Voting Rights Act. Supported
apartheid South Africa against Nelson Mandela. Supported a tax exemption for
the then segregated Bob Jones University. Only 2% of judges appointed by Reagan were black. And last, but not least, appointed Antonin Scalia (Cheney's buddy) to the Supreme Court. Thanks for the memory. Cindy Carter. Note: as a former President of the U.S., he does deserve a dignified, respectful funeral.
However, to label him as one of the "greatest Presidents" is fawning and
    sanctimonious.

  • Reagan's usda/FDA determined ketchup is a vegatable as far a school lunch
    program is concerned

  • instead of a face on Mt. Rushmore, name the national debt, the Reagan Debt, as a
living memorial to his policies which have been adopted by his successors. it
will continue to grow and will remind everyone who was responsible for it

  • THE RUSSIANS ARE TRYING TO CONTROL THE NUTMEG SUPPLY

  • Reagan and his people used back door tactics.... negotiated the release of the
Iran hostages such that they would be released after the inauguration rather
than before..this was a behind the curtain negotiation intended to make it seem
as though Reagan (not Carter) negotiated for the release of the hostage.

  • OSAMA BIN LADEN'S NAME WAS FIRST ASSOCIATED WITH ANTI-AMERICAN TERRORISM DURING THE OLIVER NORTH CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY SESSIONS. WHATEVER PROMPTED HIS VEHEMENT ANTI-AMERICANISM FIRST SURFACED DURING THE REAGAN  YEARS. NO ONE HAS EVER PUBLICLY EXPLAINED WHY THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE U.S. AND THE TALIBAN WERE SUPPOSEDLY ALLIES FIGHTING THE OLD SOVIET OCCUPATION OF AFGHANISTAN! ANY IDEAS?

  • He also turned his back on the academy of actor's union, which pissed off a few
    people.

  • At his last state of the union address, he threw down the massive budget and
proclaimed that if Congress ever sent him another one like that "I will not sign
it". No one noted at the time that he would never have the opportunity to act
on his threat since he would be out of office. What a fraud!

  • Let's not forget the foreclosures upon 1,000s of family farms. So many
foreclosures, in fact, that it resembled Stalinist collectivization

  • You forgot to mention that by negotiating with the Iranians who held the
Americans hostage, they made the diplomatic efforts of the legitimate president
ineffective. This kept the hostages in Iran until after the election. They
timed everything so that President Carter would be discredited and Reagan
elected. They used illegal actions to influence a presidential election and the
    nation doesn't seem to care.

  • Refusing to recognize AIDS as an illness that could affect millions (and not
"gay cancer" a punishment for bad choices and sinful lifestyles).

  • We in California remember Ronald Reagan as a governor before he went to
Washington. He closed most, if not all mental health facilities, turning many
lost souls out onto the streets without support or medication! Pat - California

  • opening the doors to the psychiatric hospitals and long-term care facilities
while cutting mental health benefits, limiting the ability of community mental
health centers to provide on-going care, and "dumping" patients who had been in
the longterm care sites onto the streets with no protection or provisions for
    housing and care. (Leslie)

  • We called him "Ray-gun" because of his push for for nuclear arms. I hated him
but I think that I hated nancy more..that anorexic bitch and her
astrologists...her fur coats and diamonds...her lack of caring for people
without means, her stupid "Just Say NO"!What a smack in the face to Americans.
Their fancy "Sinatra "parties. They were evil in excess She knew that there was
something wrong with him and she wanted to control the country with her "Hair
brush". They and their horrid love affair were responsible for thousands and
thousands of INNOCENT deaths. And we thought that the Marco's were awful..they
    loved them

  • In january 1970, gov. reagan signed a bill legalizing abortion in california, 3
years BEFORE roe v. wade! fewer babies, less welfare money!

  • If I'm not mistaken, under Ronnie's watch, the US turned from being the worlds
largest creditor nation to the worlds largest debtor nation.

  • Reagan provided the SCUD missiles to Iraq that were "mistakenly" fired into the
    side of the USS Stark.

  • The easing of FTC regulations that have spurred massive consolidation of
corporate holdings in the hands of a few super-rich individuals and sent the DOW
    and NASDAC into hyperinflation.

  • Began the dismantling of the FCC allowing the destruction of America's
independent media led by Time-Warner, Fox, and Disney.

  • The Star Wars "peace shield".

  • Allowed the Bush crime family to smuggle thousands of pounds of cocaine into the
US and then sell it in the inner cities, thus fueling the crack epidemic. The
proceeds were then used to support the Contras and nun rapers in El Salvador.

  • When governor of California, he turned thousands of mentally ill persons out onto
the streets, without any assistance. Too bad we couldn't have returned the
    favor.

  • Answered "I cannot recall." 147 times to 158 questions posed by the U.S. Senate
when called to testify on the Iran-Contra scandal.

  • Reagan cut out Social Security Survivor's Benefits for those of us who lost our
parent(s) before the age of 18 - unless you were a full time college student and
younger than 18. The result for me was attending community college at night on
a full time basis, while attending high school in the daytime in order to still
receive the benefits for my family. I was a junior in high school and a
freshman in college all at the same time!
    It's why I am a Democrat today!

Love your website! I read it everyday! Keep up the fight!

  • His policies as Calif. governor put at least 255,000 institutionalized mental patients on the street and the right wing idiots wonder where 50% of the homeless people came from.

  • I'm fed up. After the Paul Wellstone memorial wake the "news media" crucified those who spoke the truth about him. And in turn influenced the out come of the election. Now all TV news programs stretches the truth about Reagan's accomplishments and hides his misdeeds with lies and half truths. My question is when are we going to stand up and fight against the regressive right. If we stand together we can take our country back!!

  • When you've seen one redwood, you've seen them all.

  • Drug testing

  • Cut SS off for dependent children at age 16. It previously was 18 + four if you were in college. [deceased parent or parents].

  • I remember that Reagan grinned endearingly as he put a hard, unconcerned face on our country. That face has now outlived him. It, and nothing else, is Reagan's
    real legacy.

  • "Mistakes were made" the ultimate weasel statement.

  • "A tree's a tree. How many more do you need to look at?"
"I would have voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964."
"If they want a blood bath I'll give them a blood bath." Uttered by Reagan just
before he sent the California National Guard into Berkeley to settle student
protests against the Vietnam war. Read the book by Mark Green and Gail MacColl
tittled "Reagan's Reign of Error" it's great.
    Vito

  • record deficit spending for "star wars" unworkable missile defense system

  • "Just say no" drug misinformation campaign with resultant civil liberty
violations such as drug testing people without probable cause.

  • Only thing that comes to mind, everytime I see his face.BEDTIME FOR BONZO.And it should be BEDTIME FOR THE NEW BONZO SOON.

  • "Ketchup is a vegetable!"

  • Giving the Social Security benefit I was supposed to receive, for my Father dying when I was six years old, to the rich in tax breaks.

  • While Governor of California he closed the mental hospitals and therefore
produced the first homeless who were too crazy to take care of themselves.

  • 282 dead marines ''peacekeepers'' in beirut!!!!!!

  • How close did he come to bankrupting the country? How much of the Wall was already down when he demanded it be removed? How many times did he have to extend unemployment benefits?

  • Cuts in financial aid to college students left thousands of students stranded
re:higher education and thus increased the numbers of working poor.
