ANOTHER EMAIL from Mr Gatlin who has contacted the FBI because of threats he received from viewers of this website

As I said before, The personal information is to be considered private. Most people assume the best but you continue to throw insults at me only because I sent a comment. I don't mind my comment being used but my personal signature should have been for your eyes only. Most sites will only accept comments with this information but do not release it. As far as the threats I have turned them over to the FBI in Omaha, and since I just retired from the TSA, they will work on them fast.

Thank you

Lisa,

Poor poor Walter, he airs his ignorance in a public forum and then cries like a baby when no one cowers before his might. You are right, how REPUBLICAN! He cries "foul" because you posted his name but then he sends you his COMPLETE name! I am surprised he did not include his blood type too. And just like a REPUBLICAN when someone fights back he diverts his embarrassment and shame by insinuating that his daughter is in jeopardy! I think her biggest threat is a dad who barks loudly but can't back up what he says. And just like a REPUBLICAN he can't admit defeat- he asks the government to fight for him. Lisa, please block his further emails- he has more problems than any one on this site can possibly help him with.

(ps, I am NOT republican so you can post my name!)

I find everything about Mr Gatlin quite funny, except the threats he claimed my viewers sent.

This has reached a new level since Mr Gatlin said he has contacted the FBI.

I can imagine the FBI interviewing Mr Gatlin.

FBI: How did this begin?

Mr. Gatlin: Well, I sent an email to Lisa Casey telling her what I thought of her website and she posted it on her website with all my personal information and I started getting threatening emails from her group!

FBI: How did she get your personal information?

Mr. Gatlin: It was in the email I sent her.

FBI: Was it labeled as personal information?

Mr Gatlin: No

FBI: Did you ask her not to post your personal information?

Mr. Gatlin: Well, I just assumed she would not post my business website, address and phone numbers that are included in my email signature!!

FBI: Did you ask Ms Casey to remove those items from her website?

Mr. Gatlin: Yes

FBI: Did she?

Mr. Gatlin: Yes, except for my website and email address

FBI: Did Ms Casey ever threaten you?

Mr. Gatlin: No, but she insulted my intelligence!

FBI: Please provide me with the threatening emails and I will investigate it further.

This is one of the reasons I post nutty email in it's entirety, especially with their email address included -- I make it a matter of public record, in case anything happens to me, like an FBI investigation.

Subject: trolls

Lisa dear

I have been involved in the fight against Bush (though not as prominently and courageously as you)since and before he stole the election in 2000. It has been an arduous, sometimes distressing, sometimes maddening preoccupation. I'm lucky however, because I play music professionally and this gives me not only great pleasure but takes me completely away from the despicable actions of the Bush/Cheney administration so that (I hope) I am able to keep a more balanced perspective than if I was involved unceasingly, as you and so many others are.

For the same reason, I also watch movies and here in Australia there is a great movie review service http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/  which I use to gauge whether or not I might like to see a particular show.

While I've watched David and Margaret's TV show for many years I hadn't until recently visited their website; when I did I was astounded to find that even here, trolls leave messages in the comments section. Any movie that reveals the iniquities of the Bush junta or the madness of our self-destructive society are trashed so that Michael Moore, Al Gore and John Pilger attract disparaging, ill-spelt and unreasonable criticism.

I find it extremely hard to deal with these people in a civil manner, given that they will employ any tactic to denigrate and demean any point of view that is not in lockstep with their destructive world-view. However, I constantly remind myself that it is this quality that divides us; if I lower myself to their level the cause that I adhere to which employs humaneness, empathy and social justice, is lost.

Lisa, your site has unfailingly represented those values over the years and so I know you will understand when I say that publishing people's home address cannot become a tactic of the liberal cause because it is practised by the worst of the right wing sites, such as Michelle Malkin, to further their hate-filled objectives by giving the stupidest people an opportunity to harrass and intimidate people in their homes. One only had to witness the recent attacks on 12 year Grahame Frost and his family. Also, Jesus' General did it once but after many weeks of debate with his readers, he had to admit he made a mistake.

I know you will accept this suggestion in good humour with the knowlege that your regular readers will view this misstep as a perfectly human reaction to an act of provocative stupidity.

As always, Love to you and yours

waldo.

Hello Waldo,

It is always good to hear from you.

What disturbs me most about this is that Mr Gatlin claims he was threatened by viewers of my website. I told him to contact the authorities and he said he reported the threats to the FBI and would be taken care of quickly "because" he is a retired TSA employee. I take him at his word and I fully expect to be contacted by the FBI or TSA, although I have no knowledge of any threats against Mr Gatlin.

When Mr Gatlin wrote me an nutty email and presented himself as the Republican owner of an educational toy website, I thought -- "Wow, a grammatically challenged Republican who owns a educational toy website, is calling me a liar! A perfect fit for today's edition about another grammatically challenged Republican!" The info Mr Gatlin sent me was presented as his business info, not as his personal info.

I graciously removed the info he sent me when he emailed me "my little girl lives here too" realizing Mr Gatlin sent me his HOME address & phone numbers
that he also uses for his business.

Talk about leaving yourself and your family wide open!

Again a Democrat had to clean up the mess a Republican created.

It's hard work running a comedy website!

Thank you for your thoughtful email.

Later,
Lisa

This is an email written by AHNC viewer, Alan Charles to Mr. Gatlin

Sir,

Like most Bush supporters who have written Lisa at her site,
you want to have things both ways; you want to be able to write
whatever you want without allowing anyone to respond in disagreement.

I supported and voted for George Bush in the 2000 election, however,
I changed parties August 15, 2003 and wrote him and told he was the reason.

I didn't vote for Al Gore because I saw him as an extension of the Clinton presidency
and I thought Clinton was an embarrassment to the office. George Bush ran as
a compassionate conservative who was going to unite the country, but
it seems his compassion and his conservatism were forgotten
and the only "uniting" I've seen is against him.

If you don't like what Lisa is doing, go post on a rightwing website if you can.
Most I've visited don't allow readers to post; it's mostly liberal websites that allow that.

I was a registered Republican 40 years until changing parties in 2003. What bothers me most
is what the right wing has done to my Grand Old Party. I no longer recognize the party I grew up with.

To take a several billion dollar surplus as Mr. Bush assumed upon taking office, and driving it to
an almost equal deficit before 9/11, can not be considered conservative in anybody's book.

To begin gutting and cutting military pay and benefits upon assuming office long before 9/11
can not be considered compassionate in anybody's book.

To hand out 5 tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% of American taxpayers while fighting 2 wars is just foolhardy.

You write that all Lisa does is post cartoons. Perhaps you have not been reading her site long because
she also intersperses fact-filled links about the hijinks of this administration amongst those cartoons.

There is a plethora of information contradicting almost everything this administration is telling us
available to anyone willing to use google. Sadly, I find almost all Bush supporters unwilling
to face the truth of that information because it contradicts what they believe to be true.

As a Vietnam veteran who served during the 1968 TET offensive, I am saddened each time I realize
that only about a dozen or so elected representatives have ever served in combat, yet these are the people
making the decisions to support this president's desires to send our brightest and best into an unnecessary war.

I fully supported America going to Afghanistan in search of Osama bin Laden, however, I began writing Mr. Bush
almost every day when he began his runup to his war in Iraq pleading with him to seek calmer counsel than
what he was receiving from the hawks in his administration. It has now been proven to my satisfaction
his mind was made up to attack long before he began talking about it in television addresses.

Perhaps one day you will learn how badly you have been deceived by this man and his administration.
If that day ever comes, you too, may join with many others of us who now despise what he is doing
to our American way of life. America is in crisis right now, with major challenges facing us, but
until we can stop all the shouting at, shouting down, demeaning and demonizing of those
who hold different ideas of how things ought to be, we will accomplish nothing.

In the meantime, I will suggest that you not visit websites to post your comments unless you realize
that many of us have grown weary of your vision of America and will challenge your ideas.

Do feel free to write and challenge what I believe. I may not change your position, but
at least you will have a better picture of what we reforming Republicans believe.

Alan Charles
former Republican
veteran, 1968 TET offensive
very concerned citizen

And this is Mr Gatlin's response to Mr. Charles

Let me have your phone number and address and see if you like it!

And this is Mr Charles responding to Mr Gatlin

See ... now this sir, sounds like a threat worthy of FBI surveillance.
Would you like me to forward this to them so they can check you out?

Have you forgotten that as recently as last week Republicans posted addresses
and phone numbers of the families of the two children who spoke up for the SCHIP?

I stand by my statements below. You want it both ways, but you cannot write what you want
without someone wanting to dispute you. As I said below, I post on a lot of websites and
none of them I am aware of require you put your address and phone number to post.
The only places I am aware of that require that are letters to the editor.

I still believe you should either not visits sites like Lisa's or just not post there.

Alan Charles

This is my email to Mr Charles

My Gallant Alan!

What Democratic website wouldn't publish a grammatically challenged blathering email sent by the Republican owner of an educational website? Am I the only to see the irony here?

Once I realized this troublemaker sent me his HOME address and phone numbers, which he uses for his business, I removed them.

Once again a Democrat cleaning up after a Republican. ...wink...

Big hug Alan.

Later,
Lisa

I'm thankful I have the ability to have friends on all sides of the political spectrum. My friends and I have political debates and we learn from each other. We don't engage in hateful diatribes. We often use humor to make our political points. I guess that's why we're friends. And that is why I've always liked Bill Clinton, he has the ability to keep the lines of communication open, without personally attacking anyone with made-up junk and often using humor to make his point.

Here's a great example of Bill Clinton's humor in August 1993, right before the Republican convention, when Papa Bush's campaign was in full personal attack mode and admittedly so.

Mr. Bush, or at least his campaign, plans to go after not only Gov. Bill Clinton of Arkansas but also the Democratic nominee's wife, Hillary. A senior strategist said: "No sleaze, but maybe some draft-dodging, a lot about his record as Governor, and plenty about Hillary. She's more than fair game."...Responding to the attacks on Mrs. Clinton here, he said, "You'd think he was running for First Lady." And with scorn: "They haven't had anything positive to say about themselves. If I were the Republicans, I'd be more worried about what I could do for America than how I could bad-mouth Bill Clinton and Al Gore and Hillary Clinton and Tipper Gore."

Fair game? Isn't that the name of Valerie Plame Wilson's new book?

I miss having an intelligent president who really cared about America.
