"If you wanted to, you could get on the eBay and you could bid on having dinner with Sarah Palin. Did you know that? Yep, you could bid on it. And the winning bid was $63,000. You get to sit down and have dinner. Of course, you know, for that price - people say that's a lot of money - she'll shoot the main course." --David Letterman

Subject: Tea Baggers
Hi Lisa,
Every time I hear the Republicans called Tea Baggers it cracks me
up. Do they even know the sexual meaning for this term? It is
really suitable for them to choose it as their mantra.
Susan
You asked: Do they know the sexual meaning for this term?
If they do, they don't care. Attention to detail is not their strong suit and neither is spelling.
"It's
opening week at the U.N., ladies and gentlemen. Security is very tight here in
New York City. A lot of dictators all over the city. You know what I've noticed?
Dictators tend to be tiny. Have you noticed this? Kim Jong Il, a tiny little
guy. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Another guy like this: Mayor Bloomberg." --David

Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Journalism
Much of America
discovered James O'Keefe III and Hannah Giles through their hidden-camera,
make-believe pimp and prostitute videos of ACORN employees giving advice about
establishing a brothel with underage hookers.
But as far back as 2006 — well before the videos became a national sensation and
conservative rallying cry — the fresh-faced O'Keefe and Giles connected with a
pair of Washington conservative institutions that boast programs
training ideological journalists.

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)
fielded open questions from his constituents on the health reform debate for the
first time this summer.
Patricia Churchill relayed a story about a close family member who recently lost
a high paying job and her health insurance. Churchill told Cantor that her
relative was dying of stomach tumors and needs an operation as soon as possible.
Cantor responded by suggesting that Churchill’s relative should seek
“existing government programs” or find charity.

Jack Cafferty of CNN - When Tom DeLay Goes to Prison They Can Show His Dancing to the General Inmate Population
Cafferty: Did
you show that Tom DeLay video yet. That's just disturbing...
Blitzer: If you haven't seen it...
Cafferty: It's just disturbing. It's very disturbing.
Blitzer: It takes guts to do that.
Cafferty: It takes something. I'm not sure guts is it.
Blitzer: Wild thing, you make my heart sing.
Cafferty: When he goes to prison they can show that, like the dances and stuff
to the general inmate population.

Subject: GOP Health care
I am really dismayed
and actually angry about the way Obama has handled the whole health care
opportunity. After being given a mandate last November, he basically lateraled
it to Reid and Pelosi and said, "You figure it out." Unfortunately, the 535
members of Congress couldn't plan a two-car funeral, never mind a national
health care program. Now we have the Baucus bill and already it has something
like 564 amendments.
Somehow, I don't think that's what the electorate had in mind. Yet Obama gave
away the mandate for change, the future structure of health care itself, and the
agenda. His opponents seized the agenda and have had a field day with it.
Democrats have been on the defensive ever since.
This is an example of why I supported Hillary in the primaries last year. I
thought Obama lacked the executive and legislative experience needed to pull off
major initiatives, and I think I was right (although I still support him).
Obama's team wanted to avoid the mistakes Clinton made but they seem also to
have avoided studying the successes LBJ had in civil rights, voting rights,
housing, education, and other areas. It's not enough to understand the causes of
failure; you also have to understand the drivers of success. I don't think the
Obama team did that. This is all IMHO, of course.
Keep us posted on how things are going for you, as we are all really concerned
and pulling for you. That's not an opinion, it's a fact!
Hang in there!
Rick
Thanks for writing. And your kind words.
I agree Rick. As Dr. Howard Dean suggested, we also need a public option to able to use an existing program such as Medicare/Medicaid for people who don't have health insurance. Without that then where is the reform?
I'm doing OK. My attitude is good but I am as tired and slow as my phone modem connection. Still waiting for treatment.
