The Compassion of Bush = Rich White Friends of Bush
It has been a truly moving experience to witness the
concern and compassion the president of the United States can show towards a
convicted felon. Particularly someone accused of such grave offences as Lewis
"Scooter" Libby, Dick Cheney's former chief of staff. On March 6 2007 Libby was
convicted of obstruction of justice, making false statements to the FBI, and
twice committing perjury before a grand jury. According to the charge sheet,
Libby "did knowingly and corruptly endeavor to influence, obstruct and impede
the due administration of justice by misleading and deceiving the grand jury".
So it wasn't a case of absent-mindedness, then.
That is why George Bush's act of mercy is so inspiring, especially when one
considers that compassion is not something generally associated with him. When
he was governor of Texas, for instance, there were quite a number of convicted
felons towards whom he didn't show much compassion at all. In fact he insisted
they receive the full penalty of the law,
which in
their case was somewhat more severe than in Libby's. They were executed.

Subject: pardons/commutations
Hey Lisa,
Just an observation on the Scooter Libby debacle. With all the republicants
comparing the Bush outrage with Clinton's pardons it's important to remember
that Clinton pardoned these guys on his last day in office, W still has 1 1/2
years left in his term. By the time it's over there will be a lot more
conservative criminals on the street.

Go Hillary!!
Thanks for writing, Jonathan.
I fear you are right. Two conservative criminals that will be added to our streets are Bush and Cheney, unless the Democrats realize the Articles of Impeachment are in our Constitution. Impeach, Indict and throw the key away!

Sue Ellen Wooldridge,
the 19th-ranking Interior Department official, arrived at her desk in Room 6140

"This is Dick Cheney," said the man on her voice mail, Wooldridge recalled. "I

Wooldridge wrote off the message as a prank.
It was not. Cheney had reached far down the chain of command.
