Ok, we all know Bush speaks out of
both sides of his mouth in order to get what he wants. Bush and the GOP are
obsessed with entering our bedrooms, rosaries in my ovaries and now wanting to
legislate the definition of marriage? I think the right wing politicos are
really just voyeurs in a 3 piece suit.
But the Vatican coming out so
forcibly against gay marriages, makes me wonder why this same Vatican sat on
it's tongue when it came to their priests diddling little boys. I guess
the Vatican is more tolerant of priestly pedophiles than gay people who are in
love.
Scheme
to cash in on terrorism a scary policy
The Coloradoan, CO 7-31-03
That the deep thinkers at the Pentagon have wasted $600,000 on an incredibly
reckless and stupid scheme to sell futures contracts on world disasters is
staggering. That it was about to become part of the nation's anti-terrorism
policy has dangerous implications that go beyond the absurd.
Embarrassed Defense Department officials have rightly pulled the plug on a
Pentagon agency's plans to set up an online market to let anonymous traders
bet on the likelihood of foreign coups, attacks and assassinations.
The repulsive plan, set up by a retired admiral convicted of lying to
Congress during the Reagan administration's Iran-contra scandal, presumably
would have gone on unabated had it not been exposed by two U.S. senators...

Wolfowitz Of Arabia Does Tap Dance On Bush's Iraqi Policy
New London Day, CT - 7-31-03
...Many Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
felt they had been snookered by Paul Wolfowitz, and they did not want to be
played again.
They waited gimlet-eyed on Tuesday while Wolfowitz of Arabia shimmied away
once more from giving the cost, in lives or troops or dollars, of remaking
Iraq.
Instead, he offered a highly dramatic travelogue of his recent Iraq trip,
sleeping in Saddam's palace and flying with members of the Tennessee
National Guard, who made him “very unhappy” when they told him about their
nearly two years of active duty. (Gee, whose fault is that?) ...
