General's Statements on Islam to Be Investigated
New York Times - 10-22-03
... .Mr. Rumsfeld again insisted that he has yet to see a transcript or tapes that fully portray remarks attributed to the official, Lieut. Gen. William Boykin, the deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence. The remarks have been widely criticized as anti-Islamic, and some have called for President Bush and Mr. Rumsfeld to reprimand Gen. Boykin, or to ask for the general's resignation.

Dear Zelda,

Isn't it strange that the Chicago Sun Times disclosed the name of the guy who tipped the baseball away from Moises Alou in the playoff game last night and almost got him killed, and now that the CST has revealed his name to the crazed Cub fans he has been receiving death threats and is in fear for his life is the same newspaper that employs Robert Novak who disclosed Valerie Plames' profession to the general public. It's something to think about.

Dear Ed,

Thanx for writing, pal. Yes, that is indeed strange. Perhaps we should all write a letter to the Chicago Sun Times and demand equal disclosure.

Hi Zelda,
Can you dig up an old photo of Bush in a ridiculous polka dotted blazer? It was taken about this time of the year, just after 9/11. He was somewhere in Asia (at the same summit where he is now, I think). I remember thinking at the time that if he wasn't protected by the gravity of 9/11, he would have been absolutely skewered for this! It would make a great re-run, if you can find it (the dots are about three inches in diameter - really clownish).
Keep up the great work!!!
Elaine Saunders

Dear Elaine,

Thanx for writing. I spent a few hours looking for that picture yesterday but I couldn't find it. I have seen the picture and I thought it was hilarious.

I am forwarding this to Lisa and maybe she can do better.

Create Peace!

Bush orders feeding tube to be reinserted
Miami Herald, FL - 10-22-03

TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Jeb Bush ordered a feeding tube reattached to a brain-damaged woman Tuesday after lawmakers granted him the unprecedented power to defy a court ruling.

Preparations to begin feeding Terri Schiavo, who has gone without food or water for six days, began almost immediately at the Pinellas Park hospice where she has lived for three years, her parents waging a high-profile, years-long legal battle to keep her alive.

Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since a 1990 heart attack...

Let Someone Else Do the Talking
New York Times - 10-22-03

Is there a cure for this problem? Yes: call it counterleaking. To protect against such manipulative behavior — and to discipline those who practice it — reporters could themselves assume the status of confidential sources and share those names with other journalists.

This might be difficult if only one journalist were involved. His identity would be immediately obvious — and his future access to sources would undoubtedly be prejudiced. In the current case, however, at least two senior officials are said to have approached at least six journalists to identify the C.I.A. officer. Any of those individuals has the power to resolve this episode and still maintain "plausible deniability." They could do so by confiding who...

Crusader rhetoric disastrous for diplomacy side of war against ...
Salt Lake Tribune, UT - 10-22-03

WASHINGTON -- Osama bin Laden has said he is engaged in a holy war with the United States. For the general who is now charged with finding him, the feeling is mutual -- and the general is not making any secret of it.
Army Lt. Gen. William "Jerry" G. Boykin has made several speeches -- some in uniform -- at evangelical Christian churches in which he casts the war on terrorism in terms that sound downright apocalyptic.
Islamic extremists hate the United States, "because we're a Christian nation, because our foundation and our roots are Judeo-Christian," Boykin said, while appearing in dress uniform...

While surfing the Net for General Boykin, I typed General Boykin in Google Images and came up with this link to a Pentecostal ( speakers in tongues) website, click here and see a list of military chaplains they proudly claim as their own.

Why can't their God have them speak in a tongue that we can understand?

SUBJECT: Captain Courageous

Hi Lisa,

Bush has no qualms about inviting attacks on American service men and
women but when he's in Australia he's too scared to answer four
questions from the Australian media. Here's the link to Sydney Morning
Herald article.

Great work, love the site.

Thanks for writing Peter.

If I were Bush I wouldn't answer questions either.
