The Harder They Fall
The Dreier-Hastert press conference felt in every way like the very last act in the desperate black comedy known as the Tom DeLay era of Republican rule in Washington. What will follow is a new play, a gruesome tragedy in all likelihood, whose main characters will be Abramoff, an enraged public and a succession of grandstanding criminal prosecutors.

If we know something about the NSA, then something even more secret is
out there. That seems to be the way they operate, create a new one
more secret every time one is discovered. That is why we have so many
intelligence agencies.
I don't think they care at all about Valerie Plame because they are too
enamored with this administration (no matter who is really running it)
because they are given so much free rein under this group. And the
neoconfederates are trying to do as the president of Zimbabwe "I am
going to make the party greater than the government".
I think bloggers and editorial writers need to start a campaign to
appeal to the workers in the spy agencies, to let them know that to be
a whistleblower is to be a true American and try to dissolve these
agencies from within. It should start with educating them on the fundamental
principles this nation was founded on as written in the Declaration of
Independence (sample below).
For the NSA spys tracking this e-mail. If the Constitution is the
highest law in the land, it had to be issued and ratified by a legal
body. If the Continental Congress was legal, then it was legally
established by the Declaration of Independence. Now in the DOI it
clearly states "we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men
are created equal and they are endowed by their creator with certain
unalienable rights, and among these are life liberty and the pursuit of
happiness".
Note it doesn't say "american men". Therefore anyone from any nation
who comes under our authority has the same rights as any american
citizen. And the 9th amendment to the Constitution states that "The
enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall ot be
construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people" (take
that strict constructionists, the constitution says you can't exist).
Therefore you spooks who think you are saving America are destroying
The principles it was founded on. Give up. Quit. Go home. We don't want
or need you destroying our country.
Finally, thanks for your comments about the immigrants (you need to see
the movie "a Day without a Mexican" funny and tragic at once). If we
dedicated our national resources to building the economies of other
nations instead of building weapons to dominate them, they wouldn't
need to come here.
Richard
I sure hope someone in the CIA leaked information to Patrick Fitzgerald about who blew Valerie Plame’s cover. It stands to reason it was someone in the CIA who outed her. Even if it was Bush, Cheney or Rove who told Libby, someone had to tell our illustrious leaders first. Just my theory.
I would think any spy in any agency would be disturbed that a covert agent’s identity was revealed for political revenge. Any thinking spy anyway.
Bush wants us to be afraid of being spied on – and it is working.
I believe opening our country to south of the border immigration would be a boon to our economy. I was so grateful to the Mexican/Honduran/Guatemalan workers that were able to help me repair my home badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan. They improved the quality of life in my community after Ivan…and opened many businesses that did not exist before Ivan.
As the granddaughter of Ellis Island immigrants I have reaped the benefits of the great country they built.
